From May 13 to 16, the event showcased the latest technological solutions revolutionizing food and beverage production plants. New proposals in ingredients and R&D were also presented, driving the market toward a focus on product health, functionality, and quality. Pick&Pack for Food Industry 2025 showcased the innovations and success stories that are changing packaging and the world of logistics. In this context, experts from companies such as Trebol Group, Beckhoff Automation, Cafés Fortaleza, Garlan, and Eroski, among others, analyzed how innovation in coding and traceability is changing the game in food packaging; and how automation is essential for increasing efficiency and simplicity on packaging lines. Specialists have also studied the benefits of standardizing and digitizing data to optimize efficiency and traceability in packaging and have mapped out the path for packaging design, production, and lifecycle. Held simultaneously with Food 4 Future – Expo FoodTech, the fair brought together 247 exhibiting companies such as AgroBank, AZTI, GOe Tech Center, Beckhoff Automation, Basque Food Cluster, Christeyns, CNTA, Cocuus, Eurecat, Ibernova, IFR, Leitat, and Tecnalia. Expo FoodTech 2025 also welcomed a delegation from Germany, as the guest country, and Japan, among other territories, who came to forge business opportunities and discover innovations in the foodtech sector. Among the most studied topics, technology dominated a large part of the 125 sessions held at the congress. In this regard, emphasis was placed on the potential of digital initiatives at all stages of the agri-food chain, from field cultivation to distribution, logistics, and consumer enjoyment. A lifecycle where digital twins, AI applications, robotics, automation, 3D printing, data analytics, and other IoT solutions are driving major advances. In the area of sustainability, the sessions highlighted the efforts and success stories of agri-food companies and cooperatives in addressing decarbonization from within. This process includes training for professionals, technological tools, and practices such as regenerative agriculture and the use of renewable energy. The various plans of companies such as PepsiCo to transform industrial plants and convert them to zero emissions were also shared. To this end, the total electrification of systems, energy optimization, and the installation of solar panels, all driven by multidisciplinary teams and external alliances, are proposed as some of the relevant solutions to address this challenge. Expo FoodTech 2025 addressed another of the industry's challenges: retaining and attracting talent. The auditoriums also hosted the Talent Fair, where an exclusive space was created to connect new generations with the business ecosystem. FoodTech Innovation Awards 2022 Food 4 Future – Expo Foodtech held its FoodTech Innovation Awards, recognizing companies in the food and beverage industry that are driving innovation and digitalization. This second edition received more than 145 nominations. The Agrobank Award for the most innovative digitalization solution for the food and beverage industry went to Kaampo, for its "smarthub farming" project capable of combining all the technologies applied to agriculture on a single platform. The BASF Award for the best Sustainability Project went to Retoornado, the first reusable packaging ecosystem that aims to reduce waste generated by single-use packaging. The Azti Award for Healthy Eating recognized Picadeli's digitalized self-service salad bar solution for democratizing healthy food by making it accessible, affordable, and appetizing. MyOr won the Tech Transfer Agrifood Award for the most innovative foodtech startup for developing a business model that helps ensure a healthier future for newborns by providing parents with information and resources to reduce the risk of allergies. Finally, the Ibermática Award for the best automation and robotics solution went to Pazzi Robotics, which created the ultimate autonomous pizza kitchen, capable of baking a pizza every 47 seconds without human intervention.
