Lumson SPA presents its news products

The latest products launched by Lumson on the market, include new dispensing systems with a Purity engine, both in airless and atmospheric version, marked by a high compatibility level due to no metal parts in contact with the formulas. The comfort in use, the fast priming, together with the precision of the dosage, characterizes Purity dispensing system solution. A new advanced version of the Purity pump is the POM free pump, which eliminates POM material from the engine, to guarantee the maximum safety of the consumer while using it.
The Company, sensitive about the environment, increasingly invests in the research and development of innovative eco- friendly materials aimed to guarantee high-quality products. TAG is one of these. TAG System, which stands for Techno Airless Glass, is the cosmetic packaging developed and patented by Lumson, which combines the elegance of a glass bottle with all the technical and functional advantages of an airless system.
Lumson showed its products at PCD Paris. For Lumson, it was the first edition of PCD Paris after the acquisition of the historical company Marino Belotti Srl, the Italian leader specialized in packaging for powders (compact and backed products).


PSB Industries enters exclusive negotiations to the acquisition of Qualipac

PSB Industries has entered exclusive negotiations with the Pochet family group with a view to acquiring its Qualipac plastic and metal packaging division.
Qualipac achieved worldwide revenue of the order of €239 million in 2019 and has more than 2,300 employees. The Group possesses internationally recognized expertise for the transformation and decoration of plastics, aluminium and zamak as well as for trading in particular under its Priminter brand. Its complementary fields of know-how enable Qualipac to offer its numerous prestigious customers a broad range of products for the Perfumery, Makeup and Skincare market segments.
The envisaged transaction represents a major strategic move for the development and reinforcement of PSB Industries’ Luxury & Beauty business unit. The transaction will be presented on a consultative basis to the applicable employee representative bodies and then submitted for authorization by the competent competition authorities. It would be financed by PSB Industries’ available cash and by use of credit facilities. 


Binding offer of Silgan to acquire Albéa's dispensing business

Silgan Holdings Inc., a leading supplier of rigid packaging for consumer goods products, announced yesterday that it has signed a binding offer to acquire Albéa’s dispensing business for $900 million.
This business is a leading global supplier of highly engineered pumps, sprayers and foam dispensing solutions to major branded consumer goods product companies in the Beauty and Personal Care markets. It operates a global network of 10 plants across North America, Europe, South America and Asia. For the fiscal year ended 2018, this business generated sales of approximately $383 million.
The proposed acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2020 and is subject to the receipt of applicable regulatory approvals and the satisfaction of certain customary conditions. Upon completion of the required works councils consultations, Silgan expects that Albéa and certain of its subsidiaries will enter into a definitive purchase agreement with Silgan and certain of its subsidiaries for the purchase and sale of the business.


The Drimpak company joins DocuWorld

DocuWorld Group has acquired the Madrid company Drimpak, specialized in cardboard packaging for the high-end perfume and cosmetics sector. Located in Pozuelo de Alarcón, the Drimpak company joins its future with the rest of the industrial companies of the DWU, Eman Packaging, Navarra Labels, Rever Labels, Formsystem / Pharma Prospect and Imprenta Universal group.
"We want to be a group of graphic companies that offer packaging solutions, where the attributes of our cardboard packaging increase the value of our customers' products, providing differentiation, safety and respect for the environment," says its President, José Ramón Benito.
This incorporation is part of the execution of the Strategic Plan 2019-2022 which, together with the recent incorporation of the Catalan company Pharma Prospect, “will position us in the first line of the market, giving a proposal of differentiated value to our customers,” he says Ricardo Sempere, General Director of the Packaging business unit of the DocuWorld Group. Being part of the DocuWorld Group means for Alejandro García, who continues as Managing Director and shareholder, the confirmation "of the good work that has been developed in Drimpak in recent years."
With these additions, the DocuWorld Group will reach a turnover of close to 50M euros in 2020, with 7 production centers: Eman, Navarra de Tagjes, Rever, Formsystem, Universal, Pharma Prospect and Drimpak, with more than 300 fixed jobs.

Tomorrow’s innovations at Pharmapack Europe

Pharmapack Europe will take place on 5th & 6th February 2020 at the Paris Expo, Porte de Versailles, France. The event provides insights into the latest trends and innovations in the pharmaceutical packaging and drug delivery industries.
This year, Pharmapack is expected to play host to over 410 exhibitors and 5500+ attendees from more than 100 unique countries over 2 days, making it the most international edition to date. A who’s who of pharma packaging innovators are exhibiting at Pharmapack Europe including Aptar, Baumann, Nemera, SFM Medical Devices, SHL, Vetter and West Pharmaceutical Services.
The agenda features 40 content sessions delivered by high-level industry speakers, discussing key challenges that include: Patient Centricity, Biologicals and Biosimilars, Drug Delivery Devices and Sustainability and Pharmaceutical Packaging & Devices.
The 2020 Technical Symposium, designed to promote exhibiting companies, will provide insight from pharma industry leaders on tackling the challenges and technical problems associated with novel approaches. This will include case-studies on pre-filled on body Injectors, drug-device combinations, drug repurposing, glass pre-fillable syringes, QBD and nasal delivery innovations.
The 2020 edition of Pharmapack will also feature the Learning Lab, situated directly on the exhibition floor, it is designed to inform visitors on the latest exhibitor products and services.
The prestigious Pharmapack Awards will be hosted alongside Pharmapack Europe 2020 and will celebrate the latest innovations from the pharmaceutical packaging industry. The awards have two categories – health product category and exhibitor innovations category – each are judged by a jury of independent industry experts and decision-makers and the awards will be presented on 5th February.
All exhibitor innovations submitted for the Pharmapack Awards are showcased in the Innovation Gallery, which gives a comprehensive overview of recently launched products. Moreover, there will also be hour long guided Innovation Tours, delivered by industry experts, to highlight exceptional exhibitors throughout the innovation gallery.
To celebrate, young companies in the centre of the floorplan will be the 2020 Start-up Hub, providing a platform dedicated to emerging new and innovative technologies in the fields of pharmaceutical packaging, labelling, drug delivery device design and engineering. Exhibitors here will showcase product innovations and take part in the Start-up Pitch.


50th edition of the ADG Laus Awards for Graphic Design and Visual Communication

The call of the ADG Laus opens for all printed, published, issued, viewed online or edited works during the year 2019 in the following categories: Graphic, Digital, Advertising, Audiovisual and Student Design. Projects can be registered on the ADG-FAD website from January 7 until February 10. The ADG Laus Awards for Graphic Design and Visual Communication are awarded with the aim of recognizing excellence in graphic communication.
In this anniversary edition the jury is made up of renowned national and international professionals such as Liza Enebeis (Studio Dumbar), Omar Sosa, Ena Cardinal de la Nuez, Aino Hantttu (Hanzo), Conor Cronin, Nacho Padilla, Ana Zelich, Marc Sancho (Dear), Alistair Webb (Made Thought), Carol Mompart, Albert Porta (Practice) or Anna Gasulla (GAS), among others.
The most outstanding novelty of this year affects the Laus Aporta prize, which aims to make visible the contribution of design to society with projects that, through visual communication, have managed to have a positive social, economic or cultural impact. This award, traditionally awarded to any of the pieces presented in any category at the discretion of the jury, becomes a competition section where professionals can register their projects based on the requirements of added social value. In addition, the money collected from these inscriptions will be donated to collaborate with the project “Creativity at the beginning”, an initiative developed by the Red Cross in collaboration with graphic design professionals, which uses creativity as a tool to transform the surrounding reality to girls and boys at risk of exclusion.
One more year, the ADG-FAD Board of Directors will award the Laus de Honor Award to the professional career and L aus Companies and Entities in recognition of those institutions that stand out for their long, fruitful and inspiring relationship with the design.
The study Achos !, ADG-FAD partner, has been selected this year to develop the ADG Laus 2020 awards campaign. The campaign, which in a humorous way is about “doping” in creativity, can be followed through the social networks of ADG-FAD and the collaborating media of the campaign.
The ADG Laus 2020 Magabook, the book that collects the award-winning works of this 50th edition, will be designed by ADG-FAD partner Albert Romagosa, and will be unveiled at the Nit ADG Laus.
In its 50th edition, since the first one held in 1964, ADG-FAD will honor all those who have passed through the Laus through different communicative actions throughout the months, culminating in a Nit ADG Laus, the ceremony and party of delivery of the Laus trophies, which will take place in June during the renewed Barcelona Design Week.
In addition, the association has decided to rethink the materials that make up its iconic trophy designed by Tomás Vellvé in 1969 and take advantage of the event to present a Laus trophy made of sustainable and environmentally friendly materials. The product design studio specialized in circular economy Oiko has been responsible for this reconceptualization.
This line of action will also affect diplomas and, especially, all the materials that are requested to present to the ADG Laus 2020, which must be 100% recyclable at the risk of being disqualified if not.
